Welcome To MaxedGaming.com

Posted on Jul 4, 2009 07:21:06 AM

In this post I would like to introduce you to MaxedGaming.com.

We are a steady growing crysis community site and hope to give a short piece of info about us. The site was started in august 2007 and has since then managed to increase its visitor base on a massive scale. Starting at 10 visitors per day we have now reached around 700-800 unique visitors a day. This may still not be much but one of the things if your trying to create a community is have lots of patience.

The site started of being a pure html static site and I soon discovered the power of php. Using the phpbb system as foundation I began to work on making the site fully customizable. Still to this day im undertaking this task but its going well.

Starting with a homepage which is basically made up of user made content and a news system which is easily updated it is going well so far. We have reached the 650 users mark aswell which we are very proud of. Once we reach 1000 I think the hardest part is done and hopefully we have a constant flow of new users joining us to chat/game etc..

Our next goal was to get our users a MaxedGaming Game server which was kindly donated to us by one of our active members who as also been helping out with the site since he joined which is very much appreciated. maybe we will see you on our server soon?

One of the things that I thought was needed as a user profile was the ability to customize it to create your “own site” feel to it. Give users the ability to create their own profiles/content will make them come back more (well thats what I think anyway haha). After about 3-4 months of hard work I finally had managed to modify the phpbb code to allow users to modify their profiles as they wish with my limited knowledge of the code. Right now we have comments running aswell which is a very nice addition to have users talking to each other on their profiles and getting to know like minded people which adds a nice atmosphere to the site.

Right now we have around 200 tutorials in our database and a growing number of maps aswell. We are currently preparing to enable downloads on our system which will hopefully boost the user base a lot. In our forum we have a sweet number of around 30,000 posts now which is very good considering I started this site on my own.

If you are interested in Gaming/crysis/far cry 2/Counter strike source or the source engine, Or just interested in some aspect of games please visit us and get talking to us on the forums. You will see that every new member is warmly welcomed into our community. Hope to see you there.

Creating AI/Enemys is a lot simpler than you think.
In this tutorial I will show you how to.1. Start up the editor and load a map.
Now at the top menu click view > Open View Pane > Database View

2.When it has opened click on load library and select asian_new.xml and press open.

3. Now click on Archtype entity in the rollup bar and navigate to Asian new > Camper\Camp
and drag light_rife out into the view port. (you might have to move him around a bit as he might
be clipped in under the ground)

Now just click on the AI menu and then hit Generate all navigation.

Now just spawn and test out what you have learnt. If you have any problems or questions then let us
know in the forum.

This tutorial is continuing on from from How to make an Ai enter a vehicle by:The_Walking_Ghost

If you dont know how to make an AI enter a vehicle then please follow his tutorial first.
In this tutorial I will show you how to make your AI in the vehicle follow a path you set. This is pretty simple and should only take 5 minutes.

1. Start of with the map open you want to add this too and with an AI
allready with an Enter vehicle flow graph assigned to it.

2. Now in the rollup bar click on AI > AIPath

3. Now click on your map to start the path and click around the area where you want your
AI to drive. To finish the path go back to the starting point and double click on it.

NOTE: People are experiencing bugs where they dont actually see anything being created
but it actually is there.

4. Now when you have double clicked to reconnect it to the beginning
rename it to AI_Drive so you can remember it once you have more paths in your map.

Now just remove the tick from Road and set it to false.

5. Now select your AI and click on open flow graph (which you have from the how to make an AI enter
a vehicle tutorial)

In the Vehicle:enter node change the seat= Any to driver in the right side on inputs.

6. Now right click on the grey area on the flow graph and select: add node > AI > AIFollowpathspeedstance

So your flow graph should look something like this now:

7. Now click on the AIFollowPathSpeedStance node you just created
and over on the inputs in the names type: AI_Drive (as this is the path we created)

8. Now select your vehicle in you map and in your flow graph right click on
AIFollowPathSpeedStance and choose Assign selected entity.

9. Drag the Succeed from Vehicle:Enter into sync from AIFollowPathSpeedStance.

Play your map and test the AI.
If you have any problems please post in the sandbox forum.

MySims Racing can take a victory lap

Posted on Jun 30, 2009 05:22:01 PM

MySims Racing

Reviewed for: Nintendo Wii

Alternate version available for: Nintendo DS

From: EA

ESRB Rating: Everyone (comic mischief)

When EA started spinning off “The Sims” beyond its original intentions, jokes invariably were made about when, not if, the brand would succumb to its inevitable kart racer incarnation.

All joking aside, now we know.

But while “MySims Racing” most assuredly owes no small thanks to “Mario Kart” for its existence, it sidesteps most of the pratfalls that sank so many “Kart” rip-offs over the years. More importantly, it adds a few things to the experience that not only justify the franchise’s move into this arena, but also give the game some legs even “Mario Kart Wii” lacks.

“Racing” leaves little to chance in terms of its basic racing component, which looks like “Kart,” moves like “Kart” and follows the same blueprint in terms of controls, drifting techniques and the implementation of power-ups on the track. Like “Kart’s” Wii incarnation, “Racing” lets you choose between multiple control schemes, supporting motion steering with the Wii remote and more traditional play via the Gamecube controller and Classic or nunchuck attachments.

Generally, it does a sufficient job of mimicry. The handling is a touch more unwieldy than in “Kart,” but “Racing’s” drift mechanic compensates adequately with a little practice. The power-ups are similarly mixed: Some are clever and funny, while others feel either like useless throwaways or less effective imitations of “Kart’s” more iconic offerings.

“Racing’s” lone tweak to the formula – collectable on-track gems that build up your cart’s turbo capability – isn’t particularly ingenious in the realm of racing games. But those gems’ secondary purpose – as off-track currency – is a bit more interesting, and it opens the door for those aforementioned new ideas.

As any “Sims”-branded game should, “Racing” allows you to design your character, which goes a long way toward mitigating the game’s lack of identity when compared to kart racers that are stocked with familiar mascot characters. But “Racing” also lets you design and modify three carts – normal, large and toy-sized – with upgrades, accessories and paint/decal jobs. The customization tools can’t hold a candle to the likes of “Need For Speed” or “Forza,” but they fulfill their purpose in giving “Racing” enough tools to keep the experience reasonably fresh and tailor it to individual player tastes. They also, along with the surprising presence of a nonsensical but rather entertaining storyline, give the game a steady stream of rewards to achieve beyond the usual cup trophies “Kart” trots out game after game.

“Racing” falls back to earth with its multiplayer (four players, offline only), which doesn’t even attempt to match “Kart’s” exquisite online component. The four-player splitscreen works fine, though, and it serves as a nice alternative to (though not necessarily a replacement for) “Kart” when a change of tracks and power-ups is in order.
